About this experience
Discover the traditional art of Sri Lankan batik in Koggala near Galle. Learn the waxing and dyeing process step by step and create your own handmade batik piece to take home.

Experience one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive traditional crafts with a hands-on Batik Workshop in Koggala, located close to Galle on the southern coast.
Designed for complete beginners as well as creative travellers, the workshop introduces you to the traditional batik-making process in an easy and enjoyable way. You will be guided step by step through designing, waxing and colouring your own piece of fabric.
Rather than simply watching an artisan at work, you become part of the creative process and produce your own handmade Sri Lankan batik piece to take home as a unique souvenir.
Guests can choose from three workshop experiences depending on the amount of time available and the type of piece they would like to create.

Pickup details
Guests should arrive directly at the batik workshop venue in Koggala.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included in the standard workshop price. Private transfers may be arranged separately through Travel09 on request from Galle, Unawatuna, Koggala, Weligama and selected south-coast hotels, subject to availability and an additional charge.
The exact meeting point and confirmed starting time will be provided after booking.
Cancellation terms
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the scheduled workshop.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the workshop or no-shows may be charged 100% of the booking value.
Customized workshops may have different cancellation conditions because materials and designs may be prepared specifically for the guest.
Any supplier-approved cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances will be offered an alternative date or an applicable refund.
